About Our Class:
Who we are:
We are a Sunday School class at a nondenominational church in Amarillo, Texas. We are a Bible-believing,
Bible-teaching church and our class is a caring, generous class that loves to dig deep into God’s Word
and get closer to the Author.
Our Purpose:
Today, more than ever, Christians are being challenged in their beliefs.
The decline of the belief in the authority of Scripture, the abundance of information on the internet, and the general weakening of the Church as a whole has led to people who claim to be Christians, yet cannot seem to explain what it is that a Christian really believes. And so often, Christian beliefs seem to come up against what we hear as being ‘politically correct.’ Our class has a foundational purpose:
“to know what we believe and why we believe it.”
We believe that we really do need to stand ready as Peter says: “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
Our Mission:
We have a “mission statement” in our Sunday School class:
“If your Sundays don’t change your Mondays, then what’s the point?”
What we learn from reading and studying God’s Word is important; but equally important is what we DO with that knowledge. We MUST take that knowledge we gathered on Sunday and take it out into the world on Monday, or we have missed the intent of our Savior’s commission to spread the seed:
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Through our knowledge of God’s Word and Jesus our Lord
we can discern truth from error, test the spirits, and defend our faith.
Please join us as we study God’s Word and take another step closer to Him.
